Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Lead, strategize, and manage all aspects of complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts.
• Oversee, coordinate, and instruct outside counsel, including providing strategic guidance, case management, coordinating internally with relevant persons to gather required information. 
• Manage outside counsel to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on litigation-related matters, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies. 
• Actively participate in case preparation, including drafting pleadings, depositions, discovery, motions, briefs, affidavits, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and provide in-depth analysis on complex legal issues.
• Developing a system to maintain and manage litigation records, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible for audit and reference, including supervising and directing cross function teams, paralegal, and other support stuff in the maintenance and management of files.
• Schedule and provide regular updates directly to stakeholders on all litigation matters. 
• May manage human resource claims including Texas Workovers Comp, Slandering and other such Employee Claims.
• Coordinate cross jurisdiction legal functions ancillary to US litigation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate degree.
• Active license to practice law in the state of Texas (multiple states preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of complex commercial litigation experience with a reputable law firm.
• Has handled matters in both state and federal courts.
• Has jury trial experience in Texas, including drafting motions, taking depositions, conducting investigations, managing discovery, negotiating, appeals and managing settlement .
• Strategic thinker with experience evaluating and determining legal course of action to meet commercial needs.
• Strong research and analytical skills and ability to exercise sound business judgment and work both independently and as part of a legal team.
• Strong work ethic, ability to manage shifting priorities across matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive, with strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
• Oil/Gas/Energy industry experience preferred.
• International experience nice to have.
