Job Description

This internship is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for user experience research. The User Experience (UX) Research Intern will play a pivotal role in shaping the next version of our core program, which positions young people for economic mobility through college degree and credential attainment, high-wage job placement, and financial literacy. 

In this role, you'll gather and analyze user insights through various research methods and collaborate with cross-functional teams, reporting directly to the VP of Impact and Experience. You'll also engage in special projects that align with your interests. This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while enhancing your skills in UX research, data analysis, and nonprofit program development. 

What You’ll Do:  

  • Gather insights about users through various research methods, including designing and analyzing surveys, conducting user interviews and diary studies, facilitating usability studies, and performing ethnographic research 
  • Identify opportunities where research can inspire, enhance, or evaluate programs 
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative results and convey those insights to the appropriate people in the most engaging and actionable manner 
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into program development 
  • Engage in special projects that align with your interests and aspirations, which may include software engineering, data analysis, content development, or community outreach 
  • Attend meetings and provide input on program concepts and strategic projects 
  • Contribute to the creation of reports and strategic documents 
  • Assist with process improvements and create resources to enhance efficiency and effectiveness

  • Pay:  An hourly rate of $18-20/hour . In line with our commitment to equity, fairness, and transparency, we have adopted a no salary negotiation policy.   • Internship credit:  This can be used for internship credit depending on your interest and academic program requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current undergrad college student in California
  • Interest in user experience research and human-centered design 
  • Basic understanding of research methodologies and data analysis 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in collaborative teams 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment 
  • Some coursework in a relevant field (such as psychology, human-computer interaction, design, sociology, or marketing) 
  • Availability to commit to the internship schedule (6 hour per week)
