Position Summary

We are seeking an innovative and passionate Theater and Film Teacher to inspire and challenge students through dynamic coursework and immersive productions. This position is ideal for an educator who values creative expression, student-centered learning, and collaboration. The Theater and Film Teacher will guide students in developing their artistic voices through acting, directing, and filmmaking, while also leading the production of the Secondary School Fall Play and All-School Spring Musical.

This role requires a deep understanding of theater and fi lm, a commitment to mastery-based learning, and the ability to mentor students both on stage and behind the scenes. Major Areas of Responsibility

Teach 3-4 classes in the Secondary School in Theater, Acting, and Film, including planning engaging units and lessons, collecting evidence of student learning, and providing ongoing feedback to improve student learning.

Direct and produce the Secondary School Fall Play and All-School Spring Musical, both of which require significant after school commitment. These after-school commitments are factored into the overall teaching load for this position to support employee effectiveness and well-being.

Work closely and collaboratively with the Arts department in curriculum development, analyzing student work, and implementation of mastery-based learning in the Arts.

Prepare timely and detailed parent communication, both informally through email and phone communication, and formally through reports and conferences.

Facilitate a daily homeroom and weekly advisory for a small group of students.

Provide on-campus supervision 1-2 times per week

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field.
Middle School and/or High School classroom teaching experience.
Experience directing and/or producing large scale school plays and musicals.
Highly collaborative spirit and willingness to be part of a team-oriented approach to learning across the school.

Preferred Background
Single subject teaching credential in a related fi eld is preferred.
Advanced degree in a related fi eld is strongly preferred.
Practical experience as a working professional in the theater and/or film industries.
Experience in mastery-based or standards-based grading and assessment methodologies is highly desired. We are a fully mastery-based school, so if the candidate does not have experience, they must be willing to learn.
