Summary:
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position performs accounting tasks requiring experienced professional knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Provides specialized or general analysis support in various accounting functions covering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and Compliance.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the oversight of the local accounting, finance, and database activities.
Oversee cash collections, daily bank deposits, and account reconciliations.
Review and ensure accuracy and timely reporting of financial transactions into the general ledger
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Cross train and back-up to accounting clerks.
Ensure internal controls are compliant and in accordance with local, company policies, regulatory agencies, and industry best practices to protect company assets and mitigate risk.
Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly reports to ensure accuracy of accounts and other ad hoc reports.
Help with reconciliations, budget preparations, fixed assets, and balance sheets.
Monitor payables, payments, budget variances, and other important trends.
Assist in the preparation and submission of any important tax related information.
Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
Conduct technical accounting research and provide input on complex accounting issues.
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
5-6 years of experience in accounting with increasing levels of responsibility – Wine industry experience preferred
Excellent knowledge of GAAP
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and at all levels.
Strong team player who is comfortable working in a close and collaborative environment
Advanced skills in Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables)
High level analytical and problem-solving skills
This position requires overtime when needed.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on various projects
Meets deadlines on a consistent basis by actively planning work and prioritizing tasks
EQUIPMENT/MACHINERY USED
Computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, calculator, ten-key
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, bending, carrying, standing, manual dexterity, reaching, visual acuity, driving, and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits:
Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Applicants should not anticipate being paid at the top end of the range.
Position is bonus eligible.
