Responsibilities - Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards, including OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the commercial roofing industry.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees and contractors, including new hire orientation and ongoing certification programs.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and document findings using company applications.
- Lead investigations into workplace accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other communication initiatives to promote safety awareness and engagement.
- Maintain accurate records of safety data, including incident reports, training records, and safety performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for potential incidents such as falls, fires, severe weather, and chemical spills.
- Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging employee participation and recognition in safety-related activities.
- Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including Site Specific Safety Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), toolbox talks, stand-downs, and corrective action plans.
Qualifications - OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification (required)
- Reliable vehicle for travel to project sites (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred)
- Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or similar professional certification (preferred)
- OSHA 510 Construction certification (preferred)
- Experience in safety coordination and training, preferably in construction or roofing
- Knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with safety standards and best practices, especially in fall protection, rigging, hazard communication, and heavy equipment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software
Compensation $26 to $32 per hour, depending on experience
