Department Summary


The Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research (CPCR) and the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity are research centers co-located within the Center for Health Sciences building on the UCLA campus. The CPCR leads efforts in community- and population-based cancer control research as a Center within the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and Fielding School of Public Health. The UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity was established in 2004 to address the increasing disparities in health status and health care in the United States. The Center conducts community-based participatory intervention research in health promotion and disease prevention to mitigate disparities. In addition to conducting research, the Centers have a strong focus on community outreach and engagement.

Position Summary



Under the general supervision of the Principal and Co-Investigators, the research data analyst will provide statistical analysis for various projects in the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research, including analyses related to intervention studies conducted in the Center. The main responsibilities include conducting statistical analyses using advanced techniques to understand study outcomes and contributing to the preparation of reports and articles.

Qualifications



  • Demonstrated research experience, including advanced knowledge of statistical methods and terminology. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience in multilevel modeling, analyzing intervention study data and statistical graphics. (Required)
  • Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis, systems programming, and use of data analysis software. (Required)
  • Thorough skills in analysis and consultation. (Required)
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing. (Required)
  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations (Required)
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with faculty, staff, and research partners (Required)
  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures of human subjects related research. (Required)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. (Required)
  • Organizational skills to effectively prioritize work load. (Required)
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate files and records. (Required)


Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations



  • PhD Doctoral degree in biostatistics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (masters degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience). (Preferred)
