Under direction of a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor I, duties include operating radio console, transmit and receive radio traffic, document information in Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system or on CAD cards; dispatch appropriate personnel and resources; answer both emergency and non-emergency call from officers, public, media, and allied agencies; use of computer equipment – access information, enter and update various data bases; monitor and utilize communications related equipment; maintain related logs and files; use maps and manuals to access information; sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time.You will find additional information about the job in the .
The Ukiah Communications Center (UCC) has a permanent, full-time Public Safety Dispatcher (PSD) position. UCC PSD’s are on the 3/12 alternate workweek, with seniority sign ups.
The CHP utilizes their own Public Safety Dispatcher certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Public Safety Dispatcher classification to be eligible to take the examination.To obtain certification list eligibility, please view the examination bulletin link at CalCareers and follow all instructions. This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed designated on the Classification Specifications (link available in the minimum requirements section).
