Job Summary
The Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining area, supporting the scratch kitchen’s operations for our 50-item menu. This role ensures hygiene standards are met, assists with dishwashing, and contributes to a positive guest experience. The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding our praised cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Kitchen Cleanliness: Wipe down surfaces, sanitize condiment containers, and clean kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, grills) throughout the shift, aligning with our staff’s meticulous hygiene efforts praised by guests.
  • Dishwashing: Wash, dry, and store dishes, pots, and utensils, supporting the current 30 hr/week dishwasher effort and aiming to reduce it with efficiency (~15-20 hr/week target).
  • Floor Maintenance: Sweep, mop, and remove debris from kitchen and dining areas to prevent hazards, ensuring a safe workspace.
  • Water/Ice Systems: Monitor and clean water filtration systems and ice machines to address recent musty/moldy water concerns, ensuring fresh ice and water for guests.
  • Trash Management: Empty trash bins, replace liners, and dispose of waste according to health regulations.
  • Team Support: Assist prep cooks and line cooks with minor tasks (e.g., transporting ingredients) during peak hours, contributing to ~100.5 hr/week team effort.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, supporting the kitchen’s operational flow.

Qualifications

  • 6+ months of experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts (morning or evening) and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques and food safety practices.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude toward maintaining a clean environment.
