Network Administrator Sr.

Description:

Must take a personal and active approach to health, safety and environment and understand and follow all state, federal and company health, safety and environmental requirements applicable to the work area and tasks assigned.

Summary of Position:

Installation, general support and administration of firewalls, network communications and telecoms.Systems include network, firewall, enterprise voice, remote access and VPN’s. This position may require up to 10% travel. Provide backend system support and ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of data for all physical locations of the business. Aid in the growth of all team members furthering their interpersonal and technical aptitude. This position will be on-call nights and weekends.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a secure, reliable network.
  • Manage LAN – TCP/IP, Ethernet, WAN, WLAN, B2B VPN, Network Monitoring and Network Security.
  • Maintain network maps and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards for network.
  • Ensure network uptime – utilizing redundant links, redundant power and disaster recovery plans.
  • Assist in implementation and troubleshooting of remote access solutions, configuration and maintenance of LAN-to-LAN VPN’s, implementation and maintenance of wireless solutions.
  • Auditing of logs from network devices, hosts, applications, operating systems, etc.
  • Troubleshoot TCP/IP Ethernet networks and networking components.
  • Firewall, router, switch, and hub configuration and maintenance.
  • Implementation and maintenance of logging and auditing systems.
  • Web use monitoring, filtering and reporting.
  • Evaluate, design, order, and implement data circuits.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP LAN networks – including routing, switching, wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding and troubleshooting of routing protocols such as OSPF.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP WAN networks – including routing, circuits, ISP’s, and VPN’s.
  • Understanding of various TCP/IP protocols – including SMTP, SNMP, FTP, SSH and SSL.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Manage operational task via ITIL IT Service Management solution.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, end-users, vendors and suppliers.
  • An understanding of physical layer network connectivity technologies – Fiber optics, copper wiring, microwave, WiFi, etc.

Necessary Qualifications:

Knowledge and Relevant Experience

  • BS/BA degree with preference in the field of computer science or information systems with 6 years direct work experience supporting Microsoft and Cisco systems or any combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge to successfully perform the job.
  • Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto PCNSE or other similar certifications preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to frequently sit with frequent forward bending and occasional rotation. The employee must rarely lift, carry and/or move up to 13 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is required to rarely push or pull up to 45 pounds horizontally. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required occasionally to walk; climb stairs; and stand with rare rotation. Rarely the employee is required to squat repetitively or reach up to 74”. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment: Works in office environment and rarely site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Travel up to five percent may be required.
