This intern project will be focusing on proof-of-concept on new research concepts.

Key objectives include: 1. Enhance understanding of various interactions among ingredients and phase interactions to inform product formulation; 2. Execute initial feasibility tests to evaluate ingredient loading capacity and stability; 3. Depending other emerging priorities, the intern may also assist in a feasibility study for a plant-based high-protein drink, contributing to the exploration of new product opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct lab-scale experiments to assess new technologies and new ingredients to deliver health promoting ingredients in enjoyable & healthy formats. Optimize process conditions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Collaborate closely with the Product Development team to assist in formulation efforts, and support processing trials at the pilot scale

  • Stability and functionality evaluation at both the product and ingredients level

  • Summarize key findings and present results to team members

  • Provide support to additional feasibility testing as required.

Experience:

Laboratory experience in food chemistry and product formulation is strongly preferred, but not required.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge in chemical interactions among different ingredients and physical interactions between different phases (solid, liquid, semi-liquid)

  • In-depth knowledge phase interactions (solid, liquid, semi-liquid), moisture migration, water activity, emulsification, etc.

  • Demonstrates a strong focus on achieving results with precision and analytical thinking. Possesses innovative mindset, intellectual curiosity, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to learn rapidly and effectively and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with and ability to adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to facilitate documentation, data analysis, and presentations

Education:

  • BSc or MSc in Food science, Nutrition science, Biochemistry / Biology, Chemistry, or related field

  • Grad students preferred
