Job Description

The ROCKY MOUNTAIN LAW ENFORCEMENT FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is looking for a Mortgage Loan Processor. We are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced person to lead our team. This is a full-time, in-office position. Work will be performed at the Credit Union branch located at 700 W. 39th Avenue, Denver, CO 80216.

The Credit Union offers a comprehensive health benefits package, a generous PTO plan, paid holidays, and eligibility for participation in the 401K plan. The pay range is$24.00 - $35.70 per hour and will commensurate with experience.

Position Description

Responsible for origination of first and second mortgage loans and HELOC loans. Take loan applications, process, review, and close real estate loans for members of RMLEFCU in accordance with Internal Loan Policy and/or secondary market requirements. Promote Credit Union products and services to assist in meeting organizational goals and assigned goals. Place emphasis on quality control to protect the assets of the Credit Union and to prevent losses. Schedule workflows to ensure a smooth environment for maximum loan production, organization, processing, and closing. Ensure correct and proper records are maintained.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Answer member questions on mortgage programs available, loan processing, underwriting, and closing
  • Interview, counsel and take loan applications, pre-qualify members based on Credit Union guidelines. Determine qualifying ratios, obtain employment history and source of sufficient funds to close the loan
  • Processing of both 1st and 2nd lien position loans to include but not limited to the following 
    • Communicate with all parties regarding loan status throughout the process
    • Order credit reports, appraisals, and any other documents necessary to support the loan application 
    • Prepare documents for underwriting approval with internal Loan Committee
    • Send Adverse Action Notice as required by the federal law
    • Ensure that appropriate records are filed and maintained, and reports are processed
    • Clear any conditions required by Loan Committee
    • Handle all aspects of the closing process including closing documents and funding
    • Follow up with closing agent to ensure prompt return of the loan documents after closing
    • Ensure all post-closing requirements are received such as final title policy, homeowner's insurance policy and receipt of recorded lien.
  • Prepares month end reports 
  • Assists with loan servicing when needed
  • Assists with the escrow payments of real estate taxes 
  • Assists with annual escrow analysis in March and mail to members.
  • Assist with HMDA reporting 
    • Quarterly HMDA audit of 1st and 2nd loans
    • Annual HMDA transmission for all 1st and 2nd loans, including declines; completed by March 1st
  • Assist with the preparation and mailing of 1098 tax statements
  • Performs other related duties, including special projects as needed or requested

Qualification requirements

  • Must have excellent verbal communications and above average listening skills 
  • A significant level of Trust, Diplomacy Privacy, and Confidentiality is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.

  • Understanding of AML/BSA regulations to ensure self-compliance in carrying out related policies and procedures and completing proper reports in a timely and accurate method
  • Must possess the ability to type accurately and operate a computer terminal
  • Must have a general knowledge of banking operations and procedures
  • Pro-active in solving problems and taking initiative to go a step above in all situations
  • Must have organizational skills to handle a large volume of information for varying calls
  • Ability to adapt independently with a moderate level of supervision

Education and/or Experience

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in mortgage lending, processing and closing of mortgage loans is necessary. Other related lending experience will be taken into consideration with knowledge of applicable regulations or legal documentation
  • High school degree or the equivalent

Work Environment

Essential duties are performed in a general office work environment and regularly require sitting at a workstation/desk using a computer, calculator, copier, fax machine and other office machines and equipment. Operate a variety of standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive arm hand movements. Also, involves occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping and possible lifting, up to 30 pounds to stack and store supplies. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ability to work in a team environment that is open and able to block out distractions. Compliance with safety procedures is required. This is a full time in office position. Work is performed at the Credit Union branch located at 700 W. 39th Avenue, Denver, CO 80216.   Working hours are M - F from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with an occasional start time of 7:00 am. Rocky Mountain Law Enforcement Federal Credit Union, once known as the Denver Police Federal Credit Union, was established in 1938 and initially served the officers of the Denver Police Department. The Credit Union has since grown increasing its products and services offered and has expanded its field of membership to include numerous other law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Colorado.
