Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: The Inclusion Specialist serves as a facilitator of Frazer Centers Early Intervention Services, while supporting the inclusion of all children within the Child Development Program. PRIMARY DUTY: In collaboration with the Early Intervention Coordinator, manage caseloads to support all children who have identified developmental delays, ensuring meaningful participation in program activities MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with the Early Intervention team, manage a caseload of children who have identified developmental delays, ensuring meaningful participation in program activities Spend time in classrooms daily. Time in classrooms should include observation, direct interaction with the children, and communication with the teachers. Provide teachers with the resources, coaching and modeling necessary to meaningfully include children in all classroom activities . Communicate with each therapist regularly, and observe on site therapy sessions at least 2x quarterly (July, October, January and April), to ensure that the administrators and teachers are knowledgeable about what occurs in therapy. Support therapist in implementation of any new goals monthly within the classroom to ensure continuity of care. Facilitate Inclusion Team meetings quarterly to take place in July, October, January and April. Create quarterly reports, to include specific individualized goals and action items, based on observations, information from parents, teachers, and therapists, and assessment data. Maintain student files within the CDP Early Intervention files (CDP shared drive), to include: case updates weekly, information sheets quarterly, quarterly team meeting reports, reports or other communication from therapists, notes about any needed resources or equipment, classroom observations. All documentation and record keeping must be maintained in a consistent and timely manner. Children information sheets updated quarterly and as changes occur. Create quarterly reports for all children on the caseload, to include: observations, information from parents, teachers and therapists, and assessment data In collaboration with the Curriculum Coordinators, support the implementation of positive guidance, and coaching teachers on best practices. Make recommendations to the Curriculum Coordinators if differentiated instruction, or accommodations are needed in the classroom. Create family collaboration partnerships. Provide families with information about community resources, according to the needs of the family. Assist families with the transition to public or provide school settings to ensure the continuation of appropriate educational and therapeutic services. Facilitate and train teachers and families on the administration of Ages and Stages Questionnaires bi-annually. Make referrals for children who may have an identified need. Participate in IEP and IFSP meetings (If requested by the family) In collaboration with the Early Intervention Coordinator, plan and facilitate inclusion-focused programs for Frazer Center, and the community Support pre-enrollment student observations Assist in the onboarding of new teachers, by providing Early Intervention training, as well as training teachers throughout the year on positive guidance and behavior management. Support classrooms with special adaptive equipment and other resources as needed for children needing additional support within the classroom In partnership with the Early Intervention Coordinator, therapists and admin team develop, and provide the Director of CDP with a list of any materials and equipment needed to provide effective classroom and therapy room environments, and purchase said items within the CDP budget and grant restrictions. Support the Early Intervention Coordinator in the facilitation of individualized social skill groups for classrooms to support children with identified needs or those needing specific support. In collaboration with the Admin Team and Early Intervention Coordinator, assist with family orientation, annually and as needed to support the admission process for new students who enroll throughout the year. Assist in classroom coverage as needed and use these opportunities to observe in the classroom. Other duties assigned PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds Ability to reach, bend, sit, and stand for long periods of time Ability to lift from floor to chest level EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledgeable of developmentally appropriate practice in an early childhood education setting Knowledge of Childhood Development Proficient written and verbal communication skills Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children in an early childhood setting Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, or related field Experience in the implementation of behavioral assessment/treatment programs with children with developmental disabilities, preferred Minimum of four (4) years of experience working with children with developmental disabilities, in an inclusive ECE setting, preferred ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS : Reports to and is under the direct supervision of the Early Intervention Coordinator. Works closely with the Curriculum Coordinators, Program Assistant, Director of Child Development Program and additional ancillary personnel as appropriate.
