THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) to lead our organization in fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace culture. The Director of DEIB will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all aspects of our organization. This role requires a visionary leader who can collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to drive meaningful change and create a supportive environment where all employees feel valued and respected.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategy Development:
   1. Develop and implement a comprehensive DEIB strategy aligned with organizational goals and values.
   2. Identify opportunities to integrate DEIB principles into all aspects of our operations, including recruitment, retention, promotion, training, and leadership development.
   3. Leads the DEIB Committee in support of the identified priorities.
2. Program Implementation:
   1. Design and oversee initiatives and programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
   2. Collaborate with HR, leadership, and other departments to ensure DEIB initiatives are effectively implemented and monitored.
   3. Supports departments in understanding and ensuring DEIB principles and practices in their daily work.
3. Training and Education:
   1. Develop, deliver and, when necessary, contract for training programs on DEIB and related topics to raise awareness, enhance cultural competency, and set behavioral expectations among employees.
   2. Provide resources and support for ongoing learning and development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
   3. Conduct sexual harassment trainings
4. Policy and Compliance:
   1. Review and update policies and procedures to ensure they align with DEIB best practices and legal requirements.
   2. Monitor compliance with diversity-related regulations and recommend adjustments as needed.
5. Metrics and Reporting:
   1. Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of DEIB initiatives and track progress over time.
   2. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on DEIB outcomes, challenges, and opportunities.
6. Community Engagement:
   1. Represent the organization in DEIB-related initiatives and partnerships externally.
   2. Build relationships with community organizations, professional networks, and industry groups to enhance our DEIB efforts.

 

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing DEIB strategies and initiatives.
• Strong understanding of relevant DEIB laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Proven track record of fostering an inclusive workplace culture and driving measurable results.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action.
• Empathetic and culturally competent with a commitment to social justice.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
• High integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

 

Salary/Benefits: $90,000 plus benefits . UTEC offers a competitive benefits package that starts with 4 weeks of vacation (3 standard for all new employees and a week of agency-wide wellness closure between the Christmas and New Year holidays), 12 holidays, 10 sick days, 2 personal days, and health, dental and vision insurance. We also offer life insurance, first time homeowners support, an annual cost of living increase, a 401-K retirement plan, a $1,200- $1,800 annual wellness fund, and professional development support. With time, benefits grow to include up to 6 weeks of vacation, 80% coverage of employee health and dental insurance costs and availability for a 3 week sabbatical.
