Position Title : Graduate Enrollment - Admissions Counselor

Department : Admissions

Reports to : Director of Recruitment & Admissions

Classification : Full-time, Salary, Exempt, 37.5 hours per week

Work Schedule: Expectations to travel and represent the seminary and may require evening and weekend work


ABOUT CHRISTIAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) is a fully accredited ecumenical graduate school located in Indianapolis, IN related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and serving the whole people of God. We welcome all faiths to explore/ engage in an intellectually rigorous, spiritually formative, and emotionally supportive education that equips our students to go out into all the world and serve-whether that is in the church or out in the community. CTS also offers a robust counseling program that provides professional counseling preparation and spiritual/theological integration for those training to become mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, pastoral psychotherapists, and spiritual care specialists.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for helping with application processing, recruiting, and contributing to the daily functions of the Admissions office to reach enrollment goals. The Admissions Counselor assists in enhancing the prospective student experience and provides student-centered services by contributing to an atmosphere that is welcoming and helpful.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Recruitment to develop and execute outreach strategies and initiatives to engage prospective students to meet the seminary's enrollment
  • Respond timely to email and phone inquiries, meet with prospective students, and follow up with prospective students to build relationships that nurture completed applications or a non-degree path of learning.
  • Monitor and manage admission cycle and funnel.
  • Implement, administer plans, programs, and events for student recruitment, including but not limited to setup and hosting of Open Houses, and strategic recruiting meetings/events.
  • Provide established monthly Collects, analyzes, and interprets student data for recruitment and admissions decision-making, analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Enhance church, counseling, and university relationships, including community Helps develop outreach strategies and initiatives, while collaborating with the Director of Recruiting and using independent judgment.
  • Evaluate prospective student applications for processing for submission to the Director of
  • Interprets Recruiting and Admissions policies and best practices.
  • Utilizes key performance indicators in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and processes to determine the effectiveness of recruiting Exercises independent judgment and data to identify promotion and strategy to address specific populations. Attend professional development

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

The successful candidate should possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully fulfill the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Proven track record of working with diverse constituents.
  • Strong consideration is given to those with Counseling, Therapy, Pastoral Care, Recruiting or Higher Education, or Sales experiences.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills; highly thorough and dependable with excellent judgment.
  • The ability to listen, give feedback, and nurture vocational discernment.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, with excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask, demonstrating a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines.
  • Strong competency in computer and software skills including the student information system, CRM databases and spreadsheet applications.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required; a preferred degree in Human Services, Business, or relevant field. A master's degree in theological studies in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Two - four years' experience in recruiting and/or higher education experience preferred.
  • Resonance with the mission, vision, and core values of Christian Theological Seminary.
