About the Role:

Clear and intentional communication with our members is essential for engagement and retention. We’re seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented communicator to help craft and deliver messages to our members across email and other platforms. This is a part-time freelance role estimated at 6-8 hours per week.

Specific Responsibilities include: 

1. Weekly Membership Emails

  • Draft, proofread, and send engaging weekly emails to our 1,500+ members.
  • Ensure content is aligned with TAC’s voice, branding, and goals.
  • Track performance metrics (e.g., open and click-through rates) to optimize engagement.

2. Event Communications Strategy

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to plan and execute communications for TAC’s events, from casual meetups to black-tie galas. 
  • Develop a timeline for promotional emails, event reminders, and follow-ups.
  • Coordinate with event organizers to gather necessary details and craft compelling messaging.

3. Proofreading and Editing

  • Review all internal and external communications, ensuring they are polished, consistent, and free of errors. 
  • Provide feedback to ensure alignment with The Athletic Club’s tone and standards.

4. Team Collaboration

  • Join regular communications syncs each week with leadership to align on priorities, strategy, and updates.
  • Share insights and contribute ideas to enhance overall communication effectiveness.

5. Content Optimization

  • Assist in creating and refining templates for recurring communications to improve efficiency and consistency. 
  • Stay updated on best practices in email marketing and member engagement. 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in communications, email marketing, or related fields (freelance or in-house; internships acceptable). 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot) and familiarity with performance analytics.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
  • Passion for fitness, wellness, and community-building is a plus.
