Role 

The Bar Manager will support the bar & service teams with leading and managing the Bar in a highly anticipated new contemporary Chinese restaurant in the heart of San Francisco. The Bar Manager will be comfortable working under pressure in a fast paced, high volume environment while executing service to produce thoughtful, crafted cocktails with the utmost precision. The bar is the center stage of the new restaurant which means this role will require a candidate that is passionate not only about their craft, but even more so about building relationships with guests and the team alike. Leading the team with compassion, standing in integrity, and being authentic in what you say and do will contribute to the overall success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities: 

  • Be a mentor for all bar team assisting in their training and development which includes regularly scheduled one on ones with bar team members
  • Work together with the General Manager in managing the bar to ensure all preparation and execution of service is in line with the high-level standards set by the restaurant
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team in new cocktail creations, costing, and implementation of menus while ensuring quality control over cocktails during service
  • Support the General Manager with bar scheduling, daily ordering and labor control keeping in line with budget and target margins
  • Integral to all team communications including: bar meetings, service meetings, all-team meetings, feedback, training, scheduling, etc.
  • Uphold the highest standards of food & beverage safety, food & beverage handling, and sanitation requirements in order to ensure the health and safety of team and guests
  • Collaborate with the Operations & General Managers to recruit, hire and assist with training new team members as the restaurant grows
  • Work in conjunction with Leadership Team to build community through the network of businesses in Downtown San Francisco area and throughout the city
  • Compassionate Leadership - Along with the Leadership Team, lead the team with compassion, empathy and care in order to create and maintain a healthy, sustainable and warm culture for all

Qualities Expected: 

  • Aside from being an extremely accomplished mixologist, you must equally be well-versed in storytelling; an essential part of the restaurant experience
  • Well experienced in working with budgets, inventory, liquor cost, forecasting, and scheduling
  • Precise organizational skills, attention to detail and cleanliness are required
  • Genuine curiosity and interest in people; looking to build community & lasting relationships
  • Excellent communication skills; kind & considerate communication with team with an ability to keep guests engaged
  • Self-Starter that is proactive and willing to take initiative
  • Experience with Wines and Creation of Wine Lists is ideal but not required
  • Experience and knowledge of Asian ingredients is a plus but not required
  • Ambitious & Compassionate Leader that has a passion for Hospitality, Service & Leadership
