Job Title: Back Office Medical Assistant
Location: Newport Beach
Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Job Summary:

The Back Office Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient care. This includes preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, managing clinical documentation, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare exam rooms and ensure all necessary instruments and supplies are stocked and sterilized.

• Escort patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, and document medical histories.

• Assist physicians during exams and minor in-office procedures.

• Administer injections, perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and other diagnostic tests as directed.

• Collect and label specimens for laboratory testing following proper procedures.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

• Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and post-procedure care.

• Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with prescription refills and authorizations.

• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations.

• Support front office when needed, including answering phones and verifying insurance.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.

• 1+ year of experience in a clinical back office setting preferred.

• Proficient in EMR systems and basic medical terminology.

• Strong communication, multitasking, and patient service skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
