Job Description

An exciting opportunity has opened for an Associate Director / Director, Sales Operations for Hachette Book Group. We seek a candidate with a proven record in optimizing sales processes, enhancing efficiencies, and collaborating with stakeholders. This role partners with our sales, warehouse and customer service teams to implement strategies and resolve issues and is crucial in ensuring that our sales team operates smoothly and effectively with the insights necessary for success.  

The role is NYC based, reports into the SVP, Deputy Group Sales Director and the candidate will need to be in the office three days a week as part of the hybrid working policy at HBG.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and distributors
  • Coordinate with IT, the warehouse, publishing and sales to ensure HBG systems and processes are aligned with our sales and customer needs 
  • Manage deals process working closely with our sales teams and finance director 
  • Knowledge of Onix, EDI, logistics and shipping to ensure optimization of our list 
  • Point on customer orders, ensuring our account profiles are set up to maximize efficiency 
  • Work closely with our retailers to stage and plan seasonal stock up orders  
  • Ensure compliance with sales policies, procedures, invoicing, and best practices  

 

Our ideal candidate will have excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task. This strategic, results-oriented thinker will also possess strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable solutions for challenging problems.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:  

  • 7 years + in publishing and Customer Operations
  • Established and strong account relationships with a record of operational success
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization
  • Effective multitasking, prioritization, and time management with attention to detail

The compensation range for this position is $90-$120K. Salary can vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
