Job Title: Application Support and SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) Engineer

Location: Mid-town Manhattan, New York City

Work Type: Hybrid 3 days in office

Rate: $70-75/hour on w2

Interview Type: 1 2 Video screens + Final In-Person (must attend in-person)

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong infrastructure knowledge : Linux/Unix, Databases, Storage, Networking
• Hands-on experience with containers and container orchestration (OpenShift / Kubernetes)
• Scripting experience in Python and Shell
• Hands-on experience with web servers (Apache/Nginx), application integration, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of load balancers, web proxies , and storage platforms like NAS/SAN (implementation perspective)
• Familiarity with basic security practices , SSO, and standard encryption protocols
• Experience managing large web-based n-tier applications in secure environments, on-prem or cloud
• Strong understanding of SRE principles , monitoring, incident management, and automation
• Experience with monitoring tools : Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide application support , server administration, and troubleshoot infrastructure/user incidents
• Apply Site Reliability Engineering practices , including automation to reduce toil and downtime
• Implement and monitor web architecture for performance, scalability, and disaster recovery
• Configure and maintain application monitors and develop custom monitoring solutions
• Review SRE metrics and align with department goals
• Identify areas for automation, resiliency, and observability improvements
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, storage, database, and data center teams to deploy application platforms
• Produce reusable infrastructure design patterns and refresh periodically
• Support vendor technology onboarding per security and operational best practices
• Automate daily support tasks, improve system stability, and implement innovation for efficiency
• Be available for on-call rotation and occasional weekend support

Desired / Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with data pipeline technologies : Kafka, Redis, Airflow
• Exposure to Big Data platforms : Hadoop/Cloudera, ELK Stack
• Experience with capacity planning and performance tuning
• Familiarity with identity management protocols : OIDC, OAuth, SAML, LDAP integration
• Knowledge of cloud applications and infrastructure ; cloud/distributed computing certifications a plus

Experience Required:

• 7 12 years in hands-on application/middleware or SRE role
• Prior experience in a global financial organization is an advantage
