Job Description

Are you a compassionate and skilled clinician passionate about providing mental health services to underserved populations? We're seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Rural Clinicians, providing vital support to individuals in remote communities. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of others while experiencing the beauty and cultural richness of rural Alaska.

About the Role:

As a Rural Clinician, you'll play a crucial role in addressing the psychological needs of individuals in remote settings. Utilizing a bio-psychosocial model, you'll provide a range of clinical interventions, including:

Brief interventions: Offering immediate support and strategies to address acute concerns.
Crisis intervention: Providing timely and effective responses to mental health emergencies.
Long-term treatment: Developing and implementing comprehensive treatment plans to support ongoing well-being.
Community Engagement: Participating in cultural and healthcare events, providing educational presentations, and facilitating learning circles.
Collaborative Care: Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside medical professionals in intimate clinic settings.
This position involves frequent travel by small aircraft to various remote villages, offering a unique and rewarding experience. You will work within a system that values the cultural context of the people served.

This position offers two levels, allowing for professional growth and advancement. Progression is based on demonstrated ability to handle increasingly complex assignments.

What You'll Bring:

A Master's degree in a behavioral health field (Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work) or a PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
A commitment to obtaining Alaska Clinical Licensure within four (4) years of hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. (ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO, and PALS as required for specific specialties).
A strong understanding and respect for diverse cultures, particularly Alaska Native and American Indian cultures.
Experience traveling to rural locations is highly valued.
A passion for serving underserved communities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Qualifications for Rural Clinician II:

Two (2) years of supervised clinical work experience for Master's level clinicians, or two (2) years of post-graduate clinical experience for PhD/PsyD level clinicians, or demonstrated proficiency as a Rural Clinician I.
Current Alaska Clinical Licensure.
